Netherthong Primary School is a welcoming and thriving school at the heart of the local community. We are seeking a reliable, committed and proactive Caretaker to join our dedicated team and help provide a safe, secure and well-maintained environment in which our children can learn and flourish.

This is an important role within our school, requiring someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a team that puts children at the centre of everything we do.

The successful applicant will work closely with the Headteacher and School Business Manager to ensure that pupils, staff, governors and visitors benefit from a safe, tidy and welcoming environment.

This position is for 25 hours per week, worked across split morning and afternoon shifts. Some flexibility will be required, and the exact working hours will be agreed at interview.

Main Responsibilities

The Successful Candidate Will Be Responsible For

  • Opening and securing the school premises.
  • Ensuring the site is safe, secure and well maintained.
  • Carry out thorough cleaning of designated areas.
  • Carrying out regular site inspections and security checks.
  • Undertaking general maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Monitoring the condition of the buildings and grounds.
  • Liaising with contractors and reporting maintenance issues as required.
  • Supporting health and safety procedures across the school site.
  • Understanding and adhering to health and safety procedures and requirements, including COSHH, to help keep the site, staff, pupils and visitors safe.
  • Responding to emergencies outside normal working hours and supporting maintenance projects during school holidays when required. This may include occasional evening duties, such as school events and parents' evenings.
