About The Role
Pertemps Black Country Perms seeks a School Caretaker in Wednesbury on a full-time, temporary ongoing contract. Working Monday to Friday, 10:00am–6:00pm, the post pays £13.00 hourly and requires an enhanced DBS check. Daily duties include checking fire exits, flushing water outlets, litter picking, recording utility meters, locking premises and completing general site inspections. The successful candidate reports maintenance defects and health and safety concerns, helping keep the school safe, clean and secure. Practical skills, reliability and a conscientious approach to building upkeep are essential. Prior caretaking or facilities experience within a school setting would prove advantageous for this hands-on position.

We are currently recruiting for a School Caretaker to join a school in Wednesbury. This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean and secure school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out regular checks of fire exits and ensuring access routes remain clear
- Flushing water outlets in line with site procedures
- Litter picking and maintaining the cleanliness of the school grounds
- Reading and recording utility meters
- Locking up the school premises
- Carrying out general site and building checks
- Reporting any maintenance issues, defects or health and safety concerns
- Helping to ensure the school site is safe, secure and well maintained
- Assisting with general caretaking duties as required

The Ideal Candidate
We Are Looking For Someone Who Is
- Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
- Practical and hands-on
- Able to work independently and use their own initiative
- Comfortable carrying out routine checks and general maintenance tasks
- Friendly and professional when dealing with staff, pupils and visitors
- Able to follow health and safety procedures
Previous caretaking, facilities or maintenance experience is desirable, but candidates with relevant practical experience will also be considered.
Due to the nature of the role and working within a school environment, a prior Enhanced DBS will be required.
