School Catering Manager / Cook – Ashington

Are you an experienced Catering Manager looking for your next role in Ashington and surrounding areas?
Ripple Education is currently recruiting for a Catering Manager/Cook for a school. This is a specific opportunity for someone who can confidently take responsibility for the day-to-day running of a busy school kitchen and provide children with good-quality, nutritious meals.

The Role
As the school’s Catering Manager, you may be responsible for:
- Overseeing the day-to-day running of the school kitchen
- Preparing, cooking, and serving nutritious meals in line with agreed menus
- Managing dietary requirements and allergens safely
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and health and safety
- Organising food preparation and meal service efficiently
- Supervising and supporting catering staff
- Managing stock, ordering, storage, labelling, and rotation
- Maintaining appropriate kitchen records and documentation
- Ensuring kitchen equipment and working areas are clean and safely maintained
- Working closely with school staff to provide an efficient and welcoming catering service
- Following school and Ripple Education safeguarding procedures at all times

What We’re Looking For
You’ll ideally have:
- Experience working in a school kitchen, catering management role, or similar environment
- A relevant Food Hygiene/Food Safety qualification
- A strong understanding of food hygiene, health and safety, and allergen management
- Experience preparing and serving meals to agreed menus and standards
- Confidence managing stock, storage, and food rotation
- Strong organisation and time-management skills
- The ability to lead and work effectively as part of a catering team
- A professional and positive approach when working around children and school staff
- A good understanding of safeguarding and your responsibilities when working in a school environment

Salary: 15.1 - 16.1 GBP Per hour
