Working Hours: Permanent, Full Time, 40 hours per week, Mon - Fri from 7:00 - 15:30
Location: Malmesbury School, SN16 0QH
G4S Facilities Management is seeking an experienced Catering Manager to lead our kitchen team at Malmesbury School on a Term Time Only basis. In this key operational role, you will oversee daily food service, inspire a dedicated team, and ensure pupils and staff enjoy nutritious, high-quality meals every day.
Working closely with school leadership and site management, you will drive kitchen performance, maintain exceptional hygiene standards, and manage catering operations within budget parameters.
Main Duties & Responsibilities Will Include
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and organize a team consisting of a Catering Supervisor and six Catering Assistants. Drive recruitment, onboarding, ongoing training, and maintain a positive, collaborative kitchen culture.
- Menu Planning & Quality: Collaborate with Senior Leadership (SLT) and site managers to design delicious, high-quality menus compliant with National Nutritional Guidelines for schools.
- Operational & Shift Management: Oversee daily kitchen rotas, shift planning, timesheets, and food outlet service.
- Financial & Stock Control: Manage catering budgets, track expenditure, maintain stock levels, and coordinate with approved suppliers.
- Health, Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to food safety standards, maintaining records in accordance with the G4S Catering Food Safety Management System.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build excellent working relationships with pupils, school staff, council partners, and external vendors.

Essential Requirements
- Proven culinary expertise and hands-on experience in large-scale catering.
- Demonstrated leadership capability with a calm, supportive, and approachable management style.
- Strong planning, organizational, and budget management skills.
- Clear understanding of food safety legislation and best practices.
- Strong communication skills to engage with internal and external partners.
Desirable Criteria
- Intermediate (Level 3) Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Previous experience in school catering or contract catering environments.
- Experience operating cashless catering systems.
- Understanding of the facilities management/outsourcing landscape.
