Monday to Friday, 17.5 hours, 41 weeks/year – Including Inset Days, term time only, plus two weeks during school holidays for deep cleaning

Downland School is a co-educational maintained community special school for pupils aged between 10 and 16 who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
Our pupils have varying aptitudes and abilities; we are extremely proud of all their achievements and progress. Our pupils have a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) including: Autism (ASC); attachment disorders and Social, Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. We seek to ensure that, by the time they leave us, our pupils emerge as self-confident individuals able to manage their own learning; equipped with the skills and competencies to successfully take the next steps in their lives.
We are a friendly, happy and caring school, providing a positive, inclusive and enriching educational experience for our young people. We are looking to appoint a flexible, reliable, enthusiastic and hardworking person to join our team as a Cleaner to maintain a high standard of cleanliness within classrooms, corridors, offices, toilets.

This will require duties such as vacuuming, dusting and cleaning of washroom areas, tables, chairs etc.
We want a person who:
- Is energetic and has the ability to meet the physical demands of working in a busy environment
- Works well in a team
- Is resourceful, flexible, self-motivated and shows initiative
Your role will primarily include:
- To carry out cleaning tasks set out in the school’s cleaning schedule
- To use all cleaning materials and equipment in a safe and proper manner in accordance with any instructions and specifications provided.
- To report the breakdown of any cleaning equipment or any perceived hazards in the workplace to the Site Manager.
- To observe health and safety and security requirements.
- To maintain good working relationships with other school staff and to co-operate with reasonable changes to daily work routines to assist the smooth operation of the school
- To ensure that work undertaken complies with stated requirements and undertake appropriate training, as required.
