City of York Council are seeking a strong candidate for the key post of School Effectiveness Support Officer
In this key post, that provides support directly to the Head of Service and across the service, you will provide key administrative support and data analysis to other staff within and beyond the service.
In particular you will provide administrative support to the School Attendance Team, working alongside them to provide strong oversight and analysis within the key statutory areas of Elective Home Education and Children Missing from, and out on, Education.
You will be secure working across a wide-ranging brief, and with a range of staff at all levels of the council and external organisations, particularly within schools.
You will also be expected to provide support to the financial and procurement routines of the service to ensure smooth operational performance.

Hybrid working arrangements
Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
Public facing role
As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express themselves spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.
