School Facilities and Maintenance Technician
Claires Court School | Maidenhead, Berkshire, SL6 6AW
Permanent, full time | 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
52 weeks per year | Start November 2026
Claires Court is looking for an experienced maintenance professional to join its Estates Team. You’ll tackle repairs, solve practical problems and keep our buildings, facilities and grounds safe, welcoming and ready for the school day.
This is a hands on role where you can take ownership of your work, see the results and become a valued member of a supportive team.

Your day to day work
From fixing a faulty lock to preparing a space for a school event, you’ll help keep a busy school running smoothly. You’ll prioritise maintenance requests, spot issues early and follow jobs through to completion.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- General repairs to doors, windows, locks, flooring and furniture, plus painting, decorating and basic carpentry.
- Minor plumbing and electrical work within your competence, including fault finding and sourcing suitable parts.
- Keeping outdoor areas safe and tidy, clearing drains and gutters, and supporting seasonal grounds work.
- Setting up furniture and equipment for examinations, assemblies, parents’ evenings and sporting events.
- Handling deliveries and driving company vehicles to collect materials or move equipment between local school sites.
- Supporting swimming pool maintenance, working with contractors and completing routine safety checks.
- Opening and securing buildings, supporting occasional emergency callouts and following health and safety and safeguarding procedures.

What you’ll bring
Experience in property maintenance, caretaking or a similar practical role is essential. You’ll be confident completing a range of minor repairs to a good standard and know when a job needs specialist support.
You’ll be reliable, organised and approachable, with a practical approach to solving problems. You should be comfortable working independently, managing changing priorities and helping colleagues when needed.
An electrical or plumbing qualification would be an advantage, but is not essential. Applications from qualified electricians and plumbers are particularly welcome.
