Worcestershire County Council, School Governor (Voluntary, Unpaid) Chaddesley Corbett Endowed Primary School
Thinking about becoming a governor?
You don't need a background in education. We're looking for people with different experiences, skills and perspectives who care about helping children succeed.
Worried about the time commitment?
Our Full Governing Board meets just four times a year. Meetings start at 4.30pm, helping you avoid late evenings. Some governors choose to join a committee, but this isn't always necessary. If you do, that's typically around three additional meetings per year.
Never been a governor before?
No problem. Training and support are provided, and you'll be part of a friendly team who will help you get started.
Not sure you know enough about schools?
You don't need to be an education expert. Strong governors ask good questions, bring fresh perspectives and support school improvement.
Will it make a difference?
Absolutely. Governors help shape the strategic direction of the school and ensure the best possible outcomes for children.
In return, you'll gain:
- Valuable leadership and governance experience
- New skills and professional development opportunities
- A chance to give back to your community
- The satisfaction of making a real difference to local children and families

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
