The post holder will work alongside colleagues to raise awareness of the NSCG offer amongst prospective students, their parents, school and careers staff. The role combines working out in schools, supporting events and activities at each of our campus buildings and working from our office base at the Newcastle campus.

The function of the Schools Liaison Team is to promote the College Group and Institute of Technology and the opportunities they offer, drive student recruitment and provide a point of contact for the Group’s contacts with schools.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To establish and maintain excellent working relationships with all relevant members of staff in local schools and careers services.
  • As directed by the Senior Schools Liaison Officer, support responding positively and proactively to the individual needs of the schools to ensure that NSCG is positioned as the college of first choice for potential students.
  • To assist with the effective delivery of college information and advice events including large scale Open Events, which generally take place in the evening or on a Saturday morning.
  • To assist the team in coordinating and promoting subject specific activities (including year group taster events attended by 15-220 school pupils), to raise awareness of full-time courses and apprenticeships.
  • Confidently deliver specific college talks and workshops to respond to the needs of schools, acting as a brand ambassador and providing information, advice and guidance on the courses and pathways available at NSCG.
  • To represent the college and coordinate subject staff (where required) at school parents' evenings, GCSE options evenings, career events and other specific school events, in the day and evening as required, acting as a brand ambassador and providing information, advice and guidance on the courses and pathways available at NSCG.
  • To organise and deliver individual and large group tours at the college for school pupils, school staff and parents.
  • To research and keep up to date with career pathways that a potential student may wish to take.
  • To evaluate Schools Liaison activities and feedback findings to teaching staff and the wider team.
  • To keep abreast of developments in secondary education both nationally and locally.
  • To implement college policy, particularly in relation to equal opportunities, the student charter and health and safety.
  • To undertake such other duties which may arise from time to time, and which are commensurate with the role, this may include occasional work on wider marketing projects or events.
  • To keep on top of admin within the team, such as telephone enquiries, daily emails, application information requests, and diary requests.
  • To prioritise tasks given, keep deadlines and be able to work as part of the team.

The successful candidate will undertake either the Business Administrator Level 3 or Associate Project Manager Level 4 Apprenticeship, depending on their previous experience and qualifications.
