Fletching CE Primary School is looking for a warm, organised and enthusiastic School Secretary to join our wonderful team and help us provide a welcoming, caring and efficient administrative service for our children, families and staff.
The School Secretary plays an important role at the heart of school life. You will have responsibility for the day-to-day running of the school office and will be the friendly and familiar first point of contact for our children, parents, visitors and wider community.
This role would particularly suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of their work and managing their own busy and varied office. Although you will be the main member of the administrative team based at Fletching, you will be very much part of the wider school and Bluebell Federation Admin team, with regular contact and support from colleagues and the school's leadership team.
We are looking for someone who will:
- Be a warm, welcoming and professional ambassador for our school at all times.
- Be the first point of contact for parents, pupils, visitors and members of our school community.
- Enjoy working with children and be passionate about contributing to a happy and successful school.
- Thrive in a busy and varied school office environment, using initiative, flexibility and excellent organisational skills.
- Be confident working independently, taking ownership of the school office while working collaboratively with colleagues across the school and wider federation.
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and follow the school's safeguarding and security procedures.
- Provide high-quality administrative and secretarial support to the Head of School, Senior Leadership Team and other stakeholders.
- Maintain pupil, staff and school records accurately and to a high standard.
- Be willing to provide first aid when required – full training will be provided.
- Enjoy getting involved in the wider life of the school, including supporting the organisation of school trips, sporting events and residential visits.
- Have excellent IT skills, including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ideally have experience of school management information systems such as SIMS, or be enthusiastic and willing to learn.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
