Required for January 2027

School Staff Instructor (SSI)

The School Staff Instructor plays a central role in the effective, safe and efficient operation of the School’s Combined Cadet Force (CCF). The postholder will support the Contingent Commander in the administration, organisation and delivery of CCF training and activities, with particular responsibility for operational planning, security, the armoury, stores, equipment and logistical support.

The Combined Cadet Force has a strong and established place in the co curricular life of St Albans School. Offered from Third Form to Upper Sixth, it is one of the School’s most popular activities, with around 120–150 cadets taking part. The Contingent meets each week as part of the Friday afternoon enrichment and co-curricular programme, offering a broad range of challenging, adventurous and educational experiences. At its heart is the development of personal responsibility, leadership and self-discipline, alongside teamwork, self-reliance and a sense of service.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
