School Travel Team Leader – Passenger Assistants
We have an exciting opportunity for a School Travel Team Leader – Passenger Assistants to join Southampton City Council (SCC) in the School Travel Service.
About The Team
The School Travel Service arranges and oversees School Travel support to eligible individuals in both Mainstream and Specialist Educational Settings. The role will manage our Passenger Assistants in delivering their roles on a daily basis alongside the existing School Travel Team Leader – Passenger Assistants.
About The Role
- Day to day team management of School Travel Service staff ensuring a highly motivated and well-coordinated team deliver a safe, effective, efficient, and sustainable operational service.
- Recruitment, training, and wellbeing of Passenger Assistants who support clients with their travel arrangements, ensuring sufficient trained Passenger Assistants are available to deliver the service.
- Proactively seek to develop the team and their working practices and processes to ensure continuous improvement.
- Work closely with other integral Council services, such as HR, to ensure effective management of and support to a large number of remote staff.
- Play a significant role in developing an environment where Southampton is chosen over other cities as a place to work and reside.

About You
- Previous experience of Managing a large number of remote staff
- Exceptional relationship building skills
- Excellent Communication Skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent Level of IT literacy.
- A data driven approach to planning and optimization
- Understanding of budget management and operating in accordance with financial policy and requirements.

- Salary: The salary band for this role is £37,280 - £40,778 per annum. The starting salary is £37,280 with annual progression through the salary bands.
