About us
Royal Museums Greenwich is a collection of diverse historical sites. The sites are the National Maritime Museum, Cutty Sark, the Royal Observatory, and the Queen’s House. Each of these sites has a unique identity and a common purpose to serve our communities, through sharing our collections and expertise. We are a place to explore the sea, space, art and history, and our strategy ‘Charting Our Course’ puts people at the core of its success.
The Role
If you are passionate about the role Museums play in the learning journeys of children and young people, then this is the role for you. We are looking for a dynamic individual to work with schools and teachers to support and inspire collections-based learning at the National Maritime Museum and the Queen’s House. You will lead on the development, delivery and resourcing of historical enquiry programmes from early years to post 16, giving all school learners a high-quality experience that is unique to our sites. You will also nurture relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that audience voice is embedded into everything we do.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of engaging children and young people using museum collections and a great understanding of the needs of school learners and teachers. Effective time management and written and verbal presentation skills are also required. This role involves working with histories relating to empire and the transatlantic trade of enslaved people so experience of culturally sensitive approaches to exploring these topics is essential. It’s a fast-paced and rewarding role that puts learning at the centre of the Museum.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
