Science Teacher (KS5 Chemistry or Physics) - Temp to Perm - November Start

Location: Barnet
Contract: Temp to Perm
Start: November 2026
Salary: £38,805 - £58,404 (DOE)

A high-performing secondary school in Barnet is seeking a Science Teacher with strong KS5 Chemistry or Physics experience. This temp-to-perm role begins in November 2026 and offers the chance to join a supportive, values-led team committed to excellent teaching and long-term pupil outcomes.

About The Science Department

The Science team is collaborative, ambitious and well-resourced, working from modern laboratories and a carefully sequenced curriculum from KS3 to KS5. KS5 provision is a particular strength, with specialist teachers preparing pupils for STEM pathways.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, well-sequenced lessons across KS3-KS5
  • Create a calm, purposeful learning environment with clear routines
  • Contribute to consistent behaviour systems across the school
  • Support assessment planning, revision programmes and exam preparation
  • Build strong relationships that support pupil progress and confidence

Requirements

  • QTS and eligibility to teach in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Full-time availability
  • Ability to commit to at least one full academic year
  • Strong academic background and a degree in Science or a closely related subject
  • Effective behaviour management and strong pedagogical understanding
  • Experience teaching KS5 Chemistry or Physics
