Science Teacher – Secondary SEND
Location: Purley, South London
Salary: £200–£250 per day
Contract: Long-term
Start date: 2 November 2026
Salary depends on qualifications, experience, and pay scale position, with the highest rate applicable to candidates with substantial teaching experience.

Transparency Education is seeking an engaging Science Teacher for a long-term opportunity at an independent special day school in Purley. You’ll teach students aged 11–16 with autism (ASD) and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, supporting academic progress alongside confidence and independence.
The school offers a mainstream-style academic curriculum with specialist support, helping students work towards GCSEs and equivalent qualifications that reflect their abilities and aspirations. This is an opportunity to deliver ambitious teaching while adapting your approach to individual learners.

Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons across KS3 and KS4, including accessible practical activities.
- Adapt teaching to students’ learning profiles, communication needs, and emotional regulation.
- Assess progress and prepare students for GCSEs and equivalent qualifications.
- Work closely with support staff and the SEND team to maintain a safe, positive learning environment.
What we’re looking for
- A recognised teaching qualification and experience teaching secondary Science.
- Strong subject knowledge and confidence supporting GCSE-level learning.
- Experience supporting students with SEND, particularly ASD and SEMH needs.
- A calm, adaptable approach, with strong relationship-building and classroom management skills.
