About The Role
This full-time position for a Teacher of Science begins in September 2026. The successful candidate will teach general Science across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with potential opportunities to deliver specialist Biology, Chemistry, or Physics modules up to Key Stage 5 for candidates with suitable expertise. The post involves designing and delivering high-quality, differentiated lessons that cater to pupils of all abilities, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The incoming teacher will play a key role in raising attainment, tracking pupil progress, and promoting a safe, interactive laboratory environment.

Key Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Holds QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification.
- Enhanced DBS: A valid Enhanced DBS clearance registered on the Update Service (or a willingness for one).
- Comprehensive knowledge of the current UK National Curriculum and GCSE Science exam board specifications.
- Eligibility to Work: Valid legal entitlement to work full-time in the UK.

- Classroom Leadership: Establishing clear boundaries, positive reinforcement, and high expectations for student behaviour.
- Scientific Communication: Demystifying complex technical concepts into clear, engaging, and age-appropriate explanations.
- Practical Experimentation: Demonstrating safe, effective hands-on laboratory techniques to engage students in active learning.
- Data Analysis: Interpreting student assessment data to inform planning and target intervention effectively.
- Time Management: Balancing lesson preparation, marking, administrative tasks, and pastoral duties efficiently.

- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, high-quality Science lessons in alignment with the national curriculum.
- Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Maintain high standards of classroom management, encouraging positive behaviour, punctuality, and active participation.
- Adapt learning materials and teaching strategies to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and high-attaining learners.
- Conduct practical laboratory experiments safely, strictly adhering to COSHH guidelines and health and safety policies.
- Prepare Key Stage 4 students effectively for GCSE examinations through targeted revision and practice assessments.
- Serve as a Form Tutor, providing pastoral guidance, building rapport, and supporting student wellbeing.
- Participate in departmental meetings, cross-curricular projects, open evenings, and parents consultation events.
- Continuously track pupil performance metrics to identify gaps in understanding and implement timely interventions.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the Science curriculum.
