About Xcelerate Academy

Xcelerate Academy is a growing tuition centre based at Landau Forte College in Derby, providing high quality tuition across KS3 and GCSE Maths, English and Science.

We focus on helping students develop Confidence, Knowledge and Results through small group teaching, targeted support and effective exam preparation.

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Science Teacher to join our growing team.

The Role

You’ll be teaching KS3 and/or GCSE Science to students in small groups, helping them strengthen their subject knowledge, build confidence and develop the skills needed to succeed in their examinations.

Depending on your experience, teaching may cover Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Delivering engaging and well-structured Science lessons
  • Supporting students across KS3 and GCSE
  • Identifying gaps in knowledge and addressing misconceptions
  • Developing students’ exam technique
  • Using exam-style questions and assessments to monitor progress
  • Adapting teaching to different abilities
  • Providing constructive feedback
  • Creating a positive learning environment where students enjoy their sessions

What We’re Looking For

We’re particularly interested in teachers with:

  • Experience teaching KS3 and/or GCSE Science
  • Strong knowledge of the GCSE Science curriculum
  • Experience preparing students for GCSE examinations
  • The ability to explain challenging concepts clearly
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • A positive, approachable and engaging teaching style
  • A genuine interest in helping students make academic progress
  • Reliability and professionalism

QTS or relevant teaching experience is desirable.

Experience with AQA, Edexcel or other GCSE exam boards would be beneficial.

Flexible Weekend Sessions

Our sessions take place at:

📍 Landau Forte College, Derby

Available teaching slots include:

  • Saturday: 9am–12pm or 12pm–3pm
  • Sunday: 9am–12pm or 12pm–3pm

Whether you’re looking for one regular weekend session or multiple sessions, we’re happy to discuss an arrangement that works for you.

There may also be opportunities for 1-to-1 tuition alongside group teaching.
