Boston Spa Academy Science Technician
Boston Spa Academy is seeking to recruit a highly organised and motivated colleague to the role of Science Technician. This is an important position within the Academy, with the successful candidate playing a key role in supporting the delivery of an outstanding science curriculum. Working closely with the Curriculum Leader of Science, the postholder will ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the Science laboratories, preparing and maintaining equipment and resources to support practical teaching and learning.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation, maintenance and organisation of laboratory equipment and materials, supporting staff and students during practical activities, maintaining stock and inventory records, and ensuring that laboratories operate safely and effectively. The role requires a proactive and reliable individual who is able to work on their own initiative, manage competing priorities and contribute positively to a busy department.
Potential Applicants Should Have
- GCSE grade 4/C and above in Science or equivalent qualification.
- Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
- Familiarity with laboratory apparatus and chemicals.
- Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and use their own initiative to meet deadlines and priorities.

Students at Boston Spa Academy achieve exceptionally well at both GCSE and A Level. With a GCSE Progress 8 score which has been ‘Well Above Average’ for the past 3 academic years, students make excellent progress within their academic studies and progress to the Post-16 destination of their choice.
