About Nxera Pharma

Nxera Pharma is establishing a new AI-enabled discovery initiative to build a high-throughput, AI- and physics-driven GPCR discovery engine that complements our world-class experimental capabilities and extensive proprietary structural and chemogenomic data assets originating from Heptares Therapeutics. This initiative sits within our newly formed NxAQ organisation.

AI is being deployed across the NxWave™ platform, trained on the industry's most extensive proprietary GPCR structure–ligand dataset and paired with our curated chemogenomic library of GPCR-focused small molecules.

Our mission is to unlock the vast untapped potential of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) through computational and experimental innovation, enabling the design of first-in-class therapeutics across metabolic, neurological, immunological, and rare diseases.

As part of Nxera's mission to redefine drug discovery through advances in artificial intelligence and quantum mechanics, we are seeking a Scientific Data Engineer to help build the data foundations that power next-generation AI-driven research.

The Role

As a Scientific Data Engineer, you will join the Data & Cheminformatics team and play a key role in developing our next-generation data platform. You will design and maintain scalable data pipelines, integrate diverse scientific datasets, and create high-quality data products that enable AI/ML and computational drug discovery across the AI Research and Computational Chemistry teams.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, build and maintain automated data transformation pipelines using Prefect workflows to clean, standardise and integrate scientific datasets within our data lake.
  • Develop robust data ingestion pipelines for external scientific resources, including literature, patents, SAR data, competitor intelligence, and structural datasets.
  • Productionise and integrate cheminformatics workflows for compound standardisation, registration, and molecular property and feature calculation.
  • Help implement data lineage, governance, access control, and data quality frameworks across the platform.
  • Collaborate closely with Cheminformatics, AI Research, and Computational Chemistry teams to model, capture, and manage workflow outputs effectively.
  • Contribute to analytical capabilities that monitor key scientific and operational metrics, including model performance, experimental cycle times, and computational costs.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
