The Team

We fuse dermatological research with emerging technology to develop accessible, high-performance products—driving category-defining innovation with foresight into future consumer demands to ensure the brand remains future-proof.


The Role

Reporting to the Director of Innovation, the Scientific Lead will be responsible for driving the brand's scientific credibility through research excellence, external partnerships, and evidence generation. Acting as the organization's scientific ambassador, this role will lead relationships with research institutions, dermatologists, clinical partners, and ingredient suppliers, ensuring our innovation pipeline is underpinned by robust scientific evidence. The Scientific Lead will also represent the brand externally, bringing our science to life through conferences, publications, industry events, and thought leadership. Working closely with the Scientific Foresight Lead, this role will generate the scientific foundations that inform innovation strategy, product development, and communication across the business.

Scientific Research & Strategy

  • Lead the scientific research strategy that supports current and future product innovation.
  • Partner with the Director of Innovation and Scientific Advisor to ensure scientific rigor underpins all product development decisions.
  • Identify opportunities for collaborative research with universities, dermatologists, clinicians, ingredient suppliers, and research organizations.
  • Build long-term partnerships that strengthen the company's scientific credibility and innovation capabilities.
  • Evaluate emerging scientific evidence and determine its relevance to the business.

Clinical Research & Evidence Generation

  • Lead the design and oversight of clinical studies, consumer trials, and scientific research programs.
  • Manage relationships with clinical testing laboratories, CROs, dermatologists, and external scientific advisors.
  • Interpret study outcomes and ensure scientific evidence supports product claims and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop publication opportunities where appropriate.
  • Maintain oversight of scientific substantiation across the product portfolio.

External Scientific Leadership

  • Serve as the external scientific voice of the company.
  • Represent the brand at scientific conferences, industry events, advisory boards, and educational forums.
  • Deliver presentations that position the business as a leader in science-led skincare.
  • Build relationships with key opinion leaders, researchers, and industry experts.
  • Support media opportunities and scientific interviews where appropriate.

Ingredient & Scientific Expertise

  • Maintain expert knowledge of ingredient technologies, mechanisms of action, and dermatological science.
  • Partner with ingredient suppliers to evaluate new technologies and research opportunities.
  • Provide scientific leadership during ingredient selection and formulation discussions.
  • Identify opportunities for collaborative ingredient research and innovation.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Scientific Foresight Lead to translate research findings into innovation opportunities and internal education.
  • Support Product Development, Marketing, and Regulatory teams with scientific expertise.
  • Share scientific insights that enable cross-functional decision-making.

Role Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a scientific or technical role within the beauty, skincare, cosmetics, or related health/wellness industries.
  • Strong background in cosmetic science, dermatology, formulation chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Proven experience working with clinical trials, efficacy studies, or consumer testing in a commercial setting.
  • Confident in translating complex scientific and technical information into clear, engaging insights for cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with product development, regulatory, marketing, and external scientific partners.
  • Passionate about skincare innovation, with a strong understanding of ingredient science, formulation technologies, and dermatological trends.
  • Proactive and commercially aware, with the ability to balance scientific integrity with business goals.
  • Strong network and/or experience working with contract manufacturers, raw material suppliers, and academic institutions.
  • Willingness to travel globally to attend scientific conferences, visit suppliers, and represent the brand externally.
