Scientific Team Lead
UK remote | Medical Communications
Our client is a specialist medical communications agency with a strong science-led approach to client strategy and communications. They are looking for an experienced Scientific Team Lead to join their senior Medical & Scientific function.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an established medical communications professional who has progressed beyond project and account-level scientific leadership and is ready to take responsibility for leading a team, shaping scientific strategy, developing client relationships and contributing to the wider growth of the business.
The Opportunity
The Scientific Team Lead will provide senior scientific leadership across a portfolio of client accounts, while taking responsibility for the performance, development and capability of the scientific team within their remit.
You will work closely with Client Services and other agency disciplines to ensure scientific expertise is fully integrated into account strategy and delivery. You will act as a senior scientific adviser to clients and faculty, helping to shape communications strategy and ensuring programmes are underpinned by robust scientific thinking.
A key part of the role will be developing people. You will coach and support senior scientific colleagues, establish high standards of scientific and editorial excellence, and help build a high-performing, collaborative Medical & Scientific function.
This is not a purely editorial role. It is an opportunity to combine scientific expertise with team leadership, client partnership, commercial responsibility and strategic influence.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
