About the Role
To continue our growth as a premier Contract Research Organisation, Pharmaron has opened a new Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) Laboratory at our Hoddesdon site. We are looking for a Scientist to join this new team. In this role, you will assist in the preparation and analysis of samples generated from clinical AMS-enabled studies, including mass balance, metabolite profiling and identification, and IVPK (absolute bioavailability). This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a specialised, fast-growing area of clinical analysis.

Key roles and responsibilities
- Develop an understanding of analytical techniques used in AMS-enabled clinical studies through hands-on training
- Perform duties of a Scientist, including: using and maintaining instrumentation, processing clinical samples for AMS analysis and contributing to data processing and QC checking
- With oversight from a scientific supervisor: prepare samples for analysis by AMS, prepare samples using the sample oxidizer and analyse samples by LSC
- Take responsibility for assigned instrumentation or processes as agreed with the Line Manager
- Contribute to the review and QC checking of study data packages and reports before QA submission
- Collaborate with the AMS team and wider Pharmaron stakeholders to ensure project milestones are achieved
- Communicate results and progress updates to key stakeholders
- Address findings from QA audits and inspections
- Participate in continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives with global AMS and metabolism teams
General Responsibilities
- Maintain and write SOPs, as required
- Work in a tidy, organised, and efficient manner
- Comply with Health & Safety, GCP, SOPs, and Study Plans
- Keep Personal Training File up to date
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Accurately record all work in the company timekeeping system

Requirements
- PhD, MSc or BSc (Hons) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics or related subject
- Experience working in a GxP laboratory setting
- Experience with sample processing and analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC)
Desirable
- Experience working with 14C-labelled materials
- Experience in drug discovery/development
- Experience with 14C-detection methods/instrumentation
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present scientific findings to colleagues and clients
- Experience of coordinating / prioritizing multiple projects to meet internal and external timelines
- Effective problem solving and analysis skills
- Flexible mindset with the ability to take the initiative.
