What if the hardest analytical problem you've ever faced was actually the most important one you'll ever solve?

Not important in a "this will look great on my CV" kind of way. Important in a "this gets a life-changing medicine to a patient faster" kind of way. That's the level of stakes we're working at every day in BMS's Chemical Process Development team and it's why we're looking for someone who genuinely loves the challenge.

This Role Is For You If...

You're the kind of scientist who gets genuinely excited when something doesn't work the way it should. Who sees a tricky separation problem and thinks "let me figure this out" rather than "let me pass this along." Who reads about 2DLC or capillary electrophoresis not because you have to but because you actually find it fascinating.

If that's you - keep reading.

The Role

As a Scientist in Analytical Development, you'll be embedded within Chemical Process Development (CPD) project teams, working shoulder-to-shoulder with organic chemists and chemical engineers on some of the most scientifically complex drug candidates in BMS's portfolio - spanning small molecules, ADCs, peptides, and oligonucleotides.

This isn't a support role in the background. You'll be a core contributor, providing the analytical insights that directly shape route selection, process optimisation, and scale-up decisions. The data you generate, the methods you develop and the solutions you bring to the table will have a direct line to clinical outcomes.

What You'll Be Doing — and What It Really Means for You

  • Developing and validating fit-for-purpose analytical methods
  • Applying innovative separation techniques like 2DLC and SFC
  • Implementing automation and improving continuous manufacturing monitoring
  • Transferring methods to support timely clinical API batch release
  • Collaborating across matrixed teams within CPD and broader Product Development
  • Publishing and presenting your work externally

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
