This position is at our Medical Engineering Technologies (MET Ltd) site based in Dover.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Scientist to join our Combination & Physical Devices team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. In this role, you will complete testing on a range of medical devices, contribute to method development, and ensure all documentation is completed to a high standard.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of medical device testing and product innovation within a dynamic environment.

The role will initially be offered for a 6-month fixed term and will be reviewed towards the end of this period, with the potential for the contract to be extended subject to business requirements and performance.

Our Ideal Candidate

We're looking for a motivated scientist eager to make impactful contributions through medical device testing while ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance. Join us in shaping the future of patient safety!

Ideally, you will:

  • Demonstrate a high level of accuracy in scientific work, data analysis, and documentation.
  • Able to follow procedures precisely and reliably produce consistent results.
  • Good time management and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proactive, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Experience in a laboratory or regulated testing environment.
  • Awareness of ISO 17025, or similar quality standards is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team.

Key Duties

As a Scientist in the Combination & Physical Devices team, your main duties involve:

Testing & Data Management

  • Conduct laboratory testing on medical and combination devices according to approved protocols and test methods.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with ISO standards, SOPs, and the company’s Quality Management System.
  • Accurately record experimental data, complete data sheets, and the drafting of test reports.
  • Operate laboratory equipment responsibly, performing calibration where required.
  • Support the development, optimization, and validation of new test methods in line with client requirements and ISO standards.

Compliance and Documentation

  • Follow Health & Safety policies and safe working practices at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality procedures and assist in audit preparation and readiness.
  • Support the review and maintenance of test-related documentation, including protocols, work instructions, and SOPs.
