Role Type: Temporary Fixed Term Contract
Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Location: Hybrid, Abingdon, Oxfordshire
Evotec is a leader in the discovery and development of novel small molecule drugs with operational sites in Europe and the US. The Company has built substantial drug discovery expertise and an industrialized platform that can drive new innovative small molecule compounds into the clinic. In addition, Evotec has built a deep internal knowledge base in the treatment of diseases related to neuroscience, pain, oncology, inflammation, and metabolic diseases. Leveraging these skills and expertise, the Company intends to develop best-in-class differentiated therapeutics and deliver superior science-driven discovery alliances with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
Key Accountabilities
- Execution of approved work plans in early drug discovery projects.
- Provide recommendations for improving Workplans for review and approved by Grade 5 or above.
- Responsible for supporting more than one project across modalities and therapeutic areas.
- Will be expected to deliver timely, accurate results of pre-agreed quality to project specifications.
- May conduct some data analysis ahead of internal review prior to release to internal or external customers.

Knowledge & Experience
- Technical knowledge of protein expression with a proven ability to deliver results across target families within agreed timelines and budget, meeting agreed quality criteria.
- Design, clone, and optimise expression constructs for recombinant protein production in E. coli, insect (Baculovirus and S2), and mammalian systems.
- Execute small- to large-scale expression experiments to maximize yield, solubility, and functionality.
- Assess quality via SDS-PAGE, Western blot, and related analytics.
- Troubleshoot complex expression challenges with creative, data-driven solutions.
- Understanding of the scientific and technical background of experiments.
- Experience of precise execution of workplans.
- Expected to have some independence, making day-to-day technical decisions.
- Expected to follow training provided on the correct use and maintenance of lab equipment.
Education and Qualifications
- A PhD or a Degree with corresponding experience in a relevant scientific discipline ideally with relevant experience in industry.
