TRIMTECH Therapeutics, a well-funded and vibrant early-stage biotech based in Cambridge, UK, is expanding its team. We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic scientist to support our drug discovery efforts. You will play a key role in developing and running high-quality cell-based and biochemical assays, working closely with chemists, senior scientists, and other biologists to help create transformative new therapeutics.
About the Role
Join our core team of experienced scientists and drug hunters to develop the next generation of protein degraders, based on the pioneering work of Dr. Leo James and Professor William McEwan (Science, 2024 and Cell, 2024). Our mission is to create novel small molecule degraders of protein aggregates to combat neurodegenerative diseases.
We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic scientist to develop and perform a range of high-quality cell-based and biochemical assays across one or more of our current drug discovery programmes, including proprietary biochemical and biophysical TRIM21-activation assays, ligand competition assays, cellular seeded aggregation assays, and immunoblots. Using a strong background in data analysis and assay optimisation, you will help generate the data needed to advance our programmes quickly.

What You Will Be Doing
- Support one or more projects by generating high-quality assay data, working as part of small project teams in an interdisciplinary environment
- Perform day-to-day lab experiments, including extraction and immunoblot analysis of protein from specific cell models, maintenance of cell cultures, and cell line building and cloning, as well as biochemical assays
- Communicate plans and results clearly to programme teams and wider R&D through verbal, written, and electronic routes; prepare and write up protocols, methods, and reports as required.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records of personal experiments and methods
- Assist with the development and implementation of new methods and applications, support health and safety by drafting risk assessments and support lab operations
Qualifications, Knowledge, And Experience
- Degree or PhD in a relevant field, with 3+ years of relevant industrial experience.
- Cell culture expertise across a wide range of mammalian cell lines.
- Experience profiling activity using cell-based or biochemical assays across a range of endpoints (e.g. ELISA, HTRF, fluorescence, cell viability, reporter gene assays).
- Proven expertise in general molecular biology techniques (e.g. Western blotting, cloning, cell line engineering) and cell biology (aseptic technique) procedures is essential

- Exceptional time management, organisational, and self-motivational skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
Desirable Skills and Attributes (one or more desirable but not essential)
- Experience with iPSCs and/or neuronal models for drug discovery.
- Experience characterising activity and mode of action of protein degraders.
- Experience with protein aggregates and their role in disease.
- Understanding of neurodegenerative disease biology.
