The Role
This role will run the day to day digital coverage of major Scottish stories across the new ITV News App and social platforms. Working alongside our existing Scotland bureau, as well as the wider App + social team, our Deputy Content Editor will be the driving force of our digital content from Scotland, capturing the most important aspects of the daily agenda as well as maximising the best of our own newsgathering.
This person required for this role will straddle the responsibilities between communicating with those teams to ensure we are optimising our own original and distinctive content for our digital outputs, as well as drawing on their own editorial instincts to cover the most important stories from Scotland to a wider audience.
As well as our own Scotland bureau, the person in this role will communicate closely with the ITV News network digital Content Editors, as well as our partners at ITV Border, ensuring that our coverage of Scotland reflects the needs and interests of our existing audience, as well as expanding reach to new, mobile-first audiences.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
