The role will provide clinical leadership, programmes of training and staff development to ensure an efficient, effective and high-quality provision for Perinatal Infant Mental Health and emotional resilience support across South Tyneside. Acting as a role model and a source of first line information for stakeholders.

The post holder will promote PIMH and emotional resilience within community services and support frontline professionals in the development of strategies in South Tyneside for the continued support of Perinatal mental health and emotional resilience in the future.

  • To Provide clinical expertise to meet the needs of the families in relation to parental mental health, parent infant relationships and infant and young children’s development.
  • To deliver direct care using recognised assessment and observation techniques.
  • Act as an advocate for parents and their infants with perinatal mental health difficulties to ensure they receive active and effective care.
  • Develop, organise, deliver and evaluate PIMH and emotional resilience training across the workforce in line with role specific mandatory training.
  • Leading strengths-based approaches across the levels of need at community, universal, targeted and specialist intervention, reducing health and social inequalities and supporting the best start in life for children.
