Job Summary

MacLean-Fogg is hiring a Screw Machine Operator for our Plymouth, Michigan manufacturing facility. In this role, you will independently set up, operate, adjust, and troubleshoot screw machines in a high-volume manufacturing environment while producing parts to exact quality standards.

Location: Plymouth, MI

Work Arrangement: On-site

Schedule: 2nd Shift, Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM–1:30 AM

Pay: $24–$30/hour

Other Compensation: 5% shift premium for 2nd shift

Employment Type: Full-time / Hourly

Overtime: Overtime may be required based on business needs.

What You'll Do

As a Screw Machine Operator:

  • Independently perform advanced setup, operation, and adjustments on complex screw machines and related equipment.
  • Interpret detailed blueprints, work instructions, and technical specifications to produce parts to exact standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, dimensional, and process-related issues.
  • Use precision measurement instruments to conduct thorough in-process and final inspections.
  • Make tooling adjustments and complete changeovers as required to meet production needs.
  • Maintain accurate production records and ensure work is traceable.
  • Follow applicable safety, environmental, and quality procedures and policies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area in accordance with 5S standards.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of experience operating and setting up screw machines or similar equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machine capabilities and manufacturing processes.
  • Advanced machine-operation and process knowledge.
  • Proficiency with precision measurement instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on quality.
  • Effective time-management and organizational skills.
  • No specific degree or formal education requirement.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role is performed on-site in a high-volume manufacturing environment and involves hands-on work with screw machines, related equipment, tooling, and precision measurement instruments. Employees in this role are expected to follow applicable safety, environmental, quality, and workplace-organization requirements.
