A vacancy has arisen within the Cardiac Theatres at Blackpool. We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Theatre Scrub Practitioner.
The Unit consists of 4 theatres that perform over 1,000 adult Cardiac Cases annually, including minimal access surgery, as well as around 500 Thoracic cases, including robotic thoracic cases. As well as working in the 4 theatres as a scrub practitioner, there are opportunities to work in the theatre recovery area and Cardiology.
Ideally the candidate should have experience in Cardiac Theatres but all registered Nurse / ODP’s applicants will be considered as training can be provided.
Main duties
The core hours are between 08.00 and 19.00 Monday to Friday, with a 7 day, 24-hour emergency on-call service, that you will be expected to join.

- Preparing surgical instruments
- Maintaining a sterile environment
- Anticipating the surgical teams needs by passing instruments during the procedures
The scrub nurse is responsible for the correct count of swabs needles and instruments at the end of the procedure.
We have an excellent structured training program so you quickly become an integrated team member. There are a wide range of training and development opportunities accessible to all staff both in house, and via external links to both the University of Central Lancashire and other external learning.
