Who we are
At Mercury, we're redefining how recruitment and staffing firms use technology. Our cloud-based SaaS platform - a staffing-specific ATS and CRM built natively on Microsoft Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform - helps firms automate, scale, and perform at their best. Unlike legacy tools that bolt on integrations and AI after the fact, Mercury gives staffing leaders a single, governed system of record with enterprise-grade security, automation, analytics, and AI built in from the ground up.
Founded in 2014, we've grown rapidly into a global organisation with teams across the UK, US, and Australia. Our development team builds and maintains Mercury's Core product - a Power Platform model-driven application supported by a suite of web services and Azure resources - and we're looking for a Scrum Master (Team Lead) to lead one of our multidisciplinary Scrum teams and help them do their best work.
What you'll do
As Scrum Master (Team Lead), you'll lead and grow a multidisciplinary Scrum team of Developers and Quality Analysts, working closely with our Product Owners and Product Manager. This is a Scrum Master role at its core: you'll act as the team's coach and servant leader, and a genuine advocate for the Agile mindset rather than someone who simply runs the ceremonies, with line management responsibility for the team sitting alongside that.
You'll be involved in:
- Facilitating all regular Scrum events, and championing genuine Agile practice and mindset within the team, not just the mechanics of Scrum.
- Providing calm, steady servant leadership and coaching, helping the team stay focused, organised, and motivated to achieve its sprint goals, and building psychological safety along the way.
- Working with the Development Manager to shape, size, and grow the team based on skillsets, and recruiting to build a self-organising, cross-functional team.
- Partnering with the Product Manager and individual Product Owners to manage and prioritise the product backlog, ensuring a constant flow of refined, high-value work.
- Identifying and removing impediments blocking the team's progress towards its sprint goal.
- Co-ordinating with the DevOps and Release teams so software components are supported by CI/CD pipelines and regular release activity.
- Owning line management for the team - reviews, appraisals, absence, lateness, and annual leave - plus mentoring, coaching, and supporting the training and career development of your team, including new starters.
- Building a strong working knowledge of the entire Mercury product suite, and managing the expectations of stakeholders including the Head of Software Development, Technical Architect, Marketing, Partner Manager, and third-party integrators.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we're looking for
We're open-minded on background - what matters most is that you've been a genuine, hands-on Scrum Master, not someone who has picked up the title alongside a technical or team lead role. You'll have at least 2 years' experience working substantially as a Scrum Master, ideally within a software business, with a track record of leading Agile teams to deliver quality product increments.
We're looking for someone who has:
- A Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) qualification, with at least 2 years spent genuinely practising as a Scrum Master.
- Experience leading one or more Agile software development teams to deliver quality product increments.
- A track record of collaborating closely with Product Owners to ensure a constant flow of refined, high-value work for the team.
- Proven line management, mentoring and coaching capability, brought with a calm, steady demeanour.
- Comfort holding the dual identity of team lead and servant leader - non-hierarchical and focused on psychological safety, while still owning people-management responsibilities for the team.
- Genuine advocacy for the Agile mindset, going beyond the mechanics of Scrum ceremonies.
- Great attention to detail and an emphasis on quality and standards.
- The ability to gain buy-in from key stakeholders, and confidence holding technical discussions with development teams.
- Experience across all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle.
- The ability to deliver quality work in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
Bonus points for:
- Prior experience as a Team Lead in addition to Scrum Mastery.
- A technical background, for example as a developer or Quality Analyst, or experience working with Azure DevOps for backlog and sprint co-ordination.
- Experience with Power Platform or Dynamics 365, whether as a developer, consultant, or user.
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Advanced Certified Scrum Master.
- Active engagement in the Agile and developer community - research, networking, and staying close to best practice.
