Search Consultant / Headhunter

Milton Keynes | Hybrid | Uncapped commission up to 50%

The first thing I saw when I walked in to this office was the placement board with a deal on it for $1,000,000 done last week.

Below that was a deal for $750,000 and another for $700,000. This isn't an 'all timer' board - it was for this quarter.

The consultants working on these deals will earn comfortably over £250,000 this year. These aren't people with 10+ years experience. These are smart, hard working people that can follow a process, mostly who have worked in recruitment 2-5 years.

You’d walk into live mandates with some of the biggest spenders in quantitative trading, rather than spending your first year trying to convince somebody to give you a job to work.

That’s partly because you’ll be recruiting people most recruiters never get near.

Machine learning researchers, software engineers, quants and traders working for leading hedge funds, prop trading and high-frequency trading firms in the US.

You’re not expected to arrive knowing that market either.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The senior people around you are consistent seven-figure billers who still work at the sharp end themselves. You’ll learn their market, their clients and a way of building a desk that’s already been proven.

There’s another potential reward beyond commission.

Up to 40% of the business has been set aside for the team, several employees already hold equity, and there’s a potential route to becoming a shareholder in under three years. The business also has transaction ambitions over the next 30 months.

What You’ll Be Doing

This is primarily a headhunting role, rather than a traditional 360 desk.

You’ll find, engage and close exceptional technical candidates for existing clients and live assignments. You’ll gradually build a detailed understanding of how trading firms are structured, who leads their teams and where the best people sit.

What You’ll Need

You could already have 2–4 years in permanent recruitment and feel like you’ve hit a ceiling.

Technical recruitment across software, AI, ML or data would help, but isn’t essential.

You'll be naturally competitive, intelligent, have a thirst for knowledge and look over the next 24 months for deals, rather than work transactionally.

You don’t need a finance background or an existing client book.

About the Company

It’s a founder-led team of around 13–14 people specialising in technical headhunting for the US quantitative trading market.

You’ll be based in central Milton Keynes three days a week, around seven minutes from the station, with two days working from home or London. Hours are roughly 10am–7pm because your clients are in the US.

What You’ll Get

  • A base of up to £40k - but OTE of £250,000+ (yes, genuinely).
  • Potential route to equity/shareholding
  • Warm desk and live mandates from day one
  • Incentive trips and experiences
  • Direct mentoring from seven-figure billers

Don’t worry if your CV is six months out of date. Send me the old one or your LinkedIn profile and we can start there.
