Trainee Search Consultant | Newcastle upon Tyne | January 2027 Start | £30,000 + Commission + Sign on bonus (OTE £60,000 - £100,000)

recseekers is looking for a Trainee Search Consultant to join our Newcastle team and learn recruitment and search from the ground up.

No previous recruitment experience is required. You don’t need a university degree.

We’re looking for someone who reads this and thinks: I want to become exceptionally good at something, I’m prepared to listen to people who can help me get there, and I’ll apply myself relentlessly to achieve it.

About Us

recseekers is a specialist search business working with recruitment companies across the UK and US, predominantly within Life Sciences and Education, alongside selected Tech, AI and Engineering markets.

Our clients engage us to identify experienced recruiters, managers and leaders they often can’t reach through traditional advertising.

The people we represent are generally already successful. They have established careers, strong earnings, clients and relationships. Our job is to understand what they’ve achieved, what they want next and what would genuinely make moving worthwhile.

We’re building recseekers to operate more like a specialist search partner than a traditional recruitment-to-recruitment agency. Quality over volume, strong market knowledge and long-term relationships.

What We’re Looking For

This is an entry-level position, but the expectations are high. Recruitment rewards consistency, resilience and effort. There will be times when getting the result requires you to keep going when other people would stop, and we’re looking for someone who genuinely wants to apply themselves.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Your motivation can be entirely personal. Buying a house. Your dream car. Travelling the world. Financial independence. Building an exceptional career. We don’t particularly mind what drives you, provided something does.

Communication skills are extremely important. This isn’t a role built around excessive cold calling, but you will spend a significant amount of time speaking with people, asking good questions, understanding what motivates them and building relationships.

You’ll eventually be communicating with everyone from experienced recruiters through to £1m+ billers, Managing Directors and business owners, so being able to listen, communicate clearly and build credibility matters.

What You’ll Learn

  • How to research companies, people and international recruitment markets
  • How to identify and approach high-performing professionals
  • How to assess someone’s commercial track record and career motivations
  • How to build relationships with people who aren’t actively looking for jobs
  • How to manage search projects from research through to placement
  • How to develop client relationships and eventually win business
  • How to use LinkedIn, CRM technology, data and AI effectively
  • How to build your own market, network and eventually your own team

Where It Can Lead

We’re looking for someone who sees this as the start of a long-term career, rather than simply a short-term role before deciding what comes next. Become genuinely good at recruitment and the potential is significant. There is scope to earn comfortably above £100,000, take ownership of markets, build and lead teams and, as recseekers grows, progress into senior leadership and potentially company directorship.

As we expand internationally, there will also be potential for longer-term relocation with the company to the US or Australia.

Progression creates greater flexibility too.

You’ll initially work full-time from our Newcastle office. Your first promotion unlocks one remote day per week, your second increases that to two, with further progression ultimately creating the opportunity to work from wherever you want.

What You’ll Get

  • Starting salary deliberately positioned above the typical level for an entry-level role in the region
  • Uncapped earning potential as you progress
  • Clear, performance-based promotion structure
  • Regular team lunches and incentives
  • Opportunities for trips to the US
  • Ongoing learning and development
  • Modern CRM, AI, sourcing and recruitment technology
  • Potential future US or Australian relocation
  • Increasing flexibility as you progress
  • The opportunity to join early and grow alongside the company

You’ll be surrounded by ambitious people who want to do well, and we’ll invest properly in the person we hire.

In return, we expect you to listen, learn, take feedback, work hard and continually improve. We don’t expect you to arrive knowing how to do the job. We expect you to become very good at it.

Start date: January 2027
Interviews begin: November 2026
