Backlyst is a backlink marketplace platform that connects verified website owners, businesses, and SEO professionals through a structured, credit-based system. The platform is designed to simplify backlink building by enabling users to exchange high-quality backlinks and guest posts in a controlled and scalable environment. Backlyst prioritizes verified websites, long-term SEO growth, and strict quality control, avoiding spam-driven link-building practices. The marketplace aims to maintain balance, transparency, and trust among participants. Backlyst is currently in development, with early access registrations open at backlyst.co.uk.
Role Description
The Search Engine Optimization Specialist will support Backlyst’s growth by planning, executing, and optimizing SEO strategies tailored to a backlink marketplace platform. This is a remote contract role focused on conducting keyword research, performing technical and content-focused SEO audits, and implementing on-page optimization for landing pages, product pages, and content assets. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing site performance using web analytics tools, identifying opportunities for organic traffic growth, and collaborating with product and content stakeholders to ensure SEO best practices are integrated into platform features and marketing campaigns. The specialist will also help shape ethical, high-quality link-building strategies compatible with Backlyst’s verification and credit-based ecosystem, while documenting processes and reporting on SEO outcomes.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability in keyword research and on-page SEO, including optimizing metadata, headings, internal links, and content structure.
- Experience conducting comprehensive SEO audits to identify technical, content, and authority-related issues and propose actionable recommendations.
- Practical knowledge of ethical link-building strategies aligned with quality-focused SEO and familiarity with backlink analysis tools.
- Proficiency in web analytics and SEO platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and leading SEO tools) to monitor performance and report insights.
- Solid understanding of search engine algorithms, ranking factors, and current SEO best practices, especially in the context of marketplaces or SaaS products.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize in a remote, contract-based environment.
- Effective written communication skills for documenting SEO processes and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Relevant experience in SEO for digital products or platforms; a background in marketing, communications, or a related field is beneficial.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
