About The Role
We are seeking talented and passionate Event Chefs to join our team on a permanent zero-hour contract. While work will be available throughout the year, the majority of hours will be during our peak events season from October to December, supporting a busy programme of conferences, dinners, Christmas parties and private events.
Based across two prestigious venues – Royal Armouries Venues in Leeds and the National Railway Museum in York – this is an excellent opportunity for chefs looking for flexible work within a professional events environment, with the potential for ongoing opportunities beyond the peak season.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and present high-quality food in line with event specifications and company standards.
- Support the delivery of a wide range of events across both venues.
- Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene, health and safety, and allergen compliance.
- Ensure consistency in food quality, presentation, and service.
- Assist with stock management, food storage, and waste reduction.
- Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house teams to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
