Hourly rate:
£14.89 per hour, with a shift allowance, to be discussed with the recruiting manager.
Pattern:
4 days on, 4 days off (12-hour shift basis, 10am to 10pm)
The position is TEMPORARY, employment will run from September 2026 to February 2027 (to be confirmed)
British Sugar is the leading Sugar supplier in the UK and one of the most efficient Sugar processors in the world. Partnering with over 2,400 growers to produce home grown sugar, supplying around 50% of the UK’s sugar market, we are proud to be building and supporting a Beet Sugar industry that works for Britain.
Main Scope of Role
Sampling process streams across a large manufacturing site and carrying out routine analysis. Communicating the results to Shift Operatives and reporting to the Shift Operations Manager/Operations Chemist.

Key Areas
To analyse key parts of the process in accordance with the methods provided in order to provide timely and accurate results to process operators.
You will be expected to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required
- Good communication and timekeeping skills
- Ability to carry out simple mathematical calculations.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Desirable
- Previous experience working in the laboratory environment.
- Scientific qualifications at GCSE/GCE level or equivalent experience.
