Job Title: Secondary Sciences Teacher (Biology)

Department: Key Stage 4-5 Upper Secondary

Location: Remote (Online)

Reports to: Head of Secondary

Contract Type: Part Time - 13 hours per week

The Secondary Sciences Teacher in Biology will be responsible for teaching KS4-5 students in Biology for Years 10-13. Teaching duties will also extend to STEM based Olympiad preparation for Life Science based academic competitions, UCAT entrance prep classes, developing and leading unique extracurriculars, and additional 1:1/tutoring sessions in Biology where necessary.

The timetable for this role is set. The ideal candidate will be able to take the existing timetable as-is, or with minimal adjustment. The working days are Monday-Friday. Lesson lengths are 50 minute blocks per lesson.

Person Specification

Essential

  • A relevant degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Enhanced DBS.
  • Familiarity with British curriculum standards and assessment methods.
  • Proven experience teaching in an online or classroom setting.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.

Desired

  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
  • Further degree in related Life Sciences subject.
  • Experience in teaching online for upper secondary classes.
  • Experience teaching students with diverse learning needs.
  • Experience teaching international students.
