Academics is partnering with inclusive and well-supported Secondary SEMH provisions in Huddersfield that requires a Secondary SEMH Teacher to provide education and care for pupils aged 7-18 with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
We're looking for a dedicated Secondary SEMH Teacher in Huddersfield who can inspire confidence, rebuild trust in learning, and create positive change for young people who may have faced barriers to education.
Key Responsibilities of an Secondary SEMH Teacher based in Huddersfield
- Deliver creative, practical lessons that engage and re-motivate learners.
- Implement restorative and trauma-informed approaches to behaviour management.
- Build strong, consistent relationships to support emotional and academic development.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team (including therapists, mentors, and support staff).
- Track progress and celebrate achievements, both big and small.

Requirements of a Secondary SEMH Teacher
- QTS or QTLS (alternative routes considered with relevant experience).
- Proven experience in SEMH, PRU, or alternative provision settings.
- Resilient, empathetic and calm under pressure.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A belief in second chances and every child's potential.
