This is a temporary, on-site Secondary Supply Teacher role based in the Greater Derby Area. The Secondary Supply Teacher will deliver pre-prepared lessons across a range of subjects, manage classroom behavior, and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment in line with school policies. Responsibilities include:
- Following individual school procedures
- Adapting teaching materials to meet diverse learner needs
- Ensuring continuity of learning during staff absences
- Completing necessary marking
- Providing feedback to pupils
- Communicating effectively with school leaders and support staff
The role may involve working across different schools, year groups and departments, requiring flexibility in timetabling and subject coverage.
Qualifications
- Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., QTS or equivalent) and experience teaching in UK Secondary settings.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create an inclusive, safe and engaging learning environment.
- Ability to deliver lessons from existing plans and adapt teaching to different subjects, year groups and learner needs.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with pupils, school staff and leadership teams.
- Up-to-date knowledge of secondary curriculum, assessment practices and safeguarding responsibilities.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain) and evidence of safeguarding and child protection training.
- Reliability, punctuality and flexibility to work across multiple schools in the Greater Derby Area.
- Experience in SEND or supporting pupils with additional needs is highly beneficial.
