Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Head of Operations & Security, you will be joining a lean, highly collaborative team that works closely together to maintain a fast, reliable, and secure cloud estate. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role that balances strong team-based collaboration with a high degree of autonomy. You will not be siloed; instead, you will act as a vital technical bridge to our SysOps team with an "Applied Security" mindset, meaning you won't just flag vulnerabilities into a queue, you will personally investigate, design, and implement the fixes.
Key Responsibilities
- Acting as the primary internal security responder for DART (Detection and Response) escalations, while participating in major incident management alongside the broader operations team.
- Owning end-to-end vulnerability remediation across our AWS infrastructure and end-user devices, partnering with third-party services like Google SecOps and Tenable VM.
- Serving as the technical authority to evaluate high-volume business requests for new AI tools (e.g., Gemini, AWS Bedrock, Claude), assessing security risks and ensuring safe organizational adoption.
- Managing Identity & Access Management (IAM), including configuring SAML authentication, Google IDP, Okta, Active Directory, and Google Conditional Access rules.
- Overseeing AWS and infrastructure security, including AMI rotation procedures, inventory management, and secure AWS integrations in lockstep with the SysOps team.
- Driving efficiency across the security function by leveraging AI tools, scripting (Python, PowerShell), and automation pipelines to eliminate manual toil.

Required Experience
- SecOps or Systems Security experience (3+ years) in a cloud environment, with a track record of proactively handling production-level threats.
- Mandatory, hands-on technical experience with AWS Security, Google Workspace Administration, and comprehensive vulnerability management.
- An "Applied Security" mindset; you must enjoy getting your hands dirty fixing issues directly in Active Directory, AWS, or Google Workspace rather than simply handing tickets to an Ops queue.
- A pragmatic, autonomous problem-solver who can evaluate cutting-edge AI software risks and run security projects independently from concept to documentation.
- Familiarity with Identity & Access Management (Okta, SAML) and Endpoint/Network Security platforms (e.g., Sophos, CrowdStrike, or similar EDR/XDR).
- Flexibility to work in a hybrid model, commuting to either our Wimbledon or Portsmouth offices as part of a flexible split.
