About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled SecOps Engineer to join a well-established and profitable construction engineering company based in Central London. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment undergoing a significant digital transformation. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in strengthening the company's security posture by implementing robust security controls, monitoring security systems, and responding to threats in real-time. This is a leadership position ideal for a proactive security professional eager to contribute to a growing organization with ambitious expansion plans. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, external security operations centers, and leveraging advanced security tools to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of critical business assets.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise, relevant certifications, and practical experience, including:

  • Previous hands-on experience in Security Operations (SecOps) or Incident Response roles.
  • Recognized security certifications such as Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or Microsoft Security Certifications.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS security, hardening, and vulnerability management.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and process optimization.
  • Solid understanding of cloud-native security frameworks across M365, Azure, and AWS platforms.
  • Experience managing enterprise IT infrastructure and security policies.

Additional preferred qualifications include experience with vulnerability management tools like Qualys, familiarity with Varonis, and knowledge of network security protocols and certifications such as TCP/IP, VPNs, and network segmentation. Experience working with ServiceNow and managing security policies for web filtering and SSL inspection will be considered advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor security tools including SIEM solutions like QRadar, and respond promptly to threat detection alerts to mitigate potential risks.
  • Perform triage, analysis, and prioritization of security incidents through platforms such as ServiceNow.
  • Investigate root causes of security issues, develop effective remediation strategies, and document findings thoroughly.
  • Oversee patch management processes to ensure systems are up-to-date and protected against vulnerabilities.
  • Conduct vulnerability scans with tools like Qualys, analyze results, and prioritize remediation activities accordingly.
  • Create and maintain documentation of SecOps processes, procedures, and knowledge base articles aligned with best practices.
  • Automate security tasks and integrate security toolchains using scripting languages such as PowerShell and Batch scripts.
  • Collaborate with external Security Operations Center (SOC) teams to coordinate incident response efforts.
  • Prepare post-incident reports and perform root cause analysis to prevent future security breaches.
  • Manage security for end-user devices using platforms like MS Intune, Sophos, and NinjaOne.
  • Schedule and evaluate vulnerability scans on critical infrastructure to ensure continuous security compliance.
  • Maintain patching compliance for operating systems, Microsoft Office, and third-party applications.
  • Support infrastructure teams in deploying secure systems, enhancing security policies, and managing security-driven changes.
  • Produce weekly security operations reports to inform senior management of ongoing security posture and incidents.
  • Manage Cisco Umbrella web filtering policies and SSL inspection to control web access and monitor encrypted traffic.
