About The Role

The SecOps Engineer role at Context Recruitment Limited is a critical leadership position within their IT security team. Based in Central London with a hybrid working model, this role offers an exciting opportunity for a proactive security professional to influence the company's security posture during a period of significant digital transformation. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring, managing, and enhancing security controls across the organization’s application, network, and infrastructure environments. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong technical expertise and a hands-on approach to security operations. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners, including Security Operations Centers (SOCs), to ensure the company's systems are resilient against evolving cyber threats.   • Previous hands-on experience in Security Operations (SecOps) or Incident Response roles.
  • Recognized security certifications such as Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or Microsoft security certifications.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS security, hardening, and vulnerability management.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation for security tasks.
  • Solid understanding of cloud-native security principles across Microsoft 365, Azure, and AWS environments.
  • Experience managing enterprise IT infrastructure and security controls.

Additional preferred qualifications include experience with vulnerability management tools like Qualys, familiarity with Varonis, network security certifications (TCP/IP, VPNs, routing, segmentation), and working knowledge of ServiceNow platform.

Responsibilities

The SecOps Engineer will be responsible for a broad range of security operations tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Monitoring security tools such as SIEM (QRadar) and responding promptly to threat detection alerts to mitigate risks effectively.
  • Triaging, analyzing, and prioritizing security incidents through ServiceNow, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Investigating root causes of security issues and designing effective remediation strategies to prevent future occurrences.
  • Overseeing patch management processes to ensure systems are up-to-date and protected against vulnerabilities.
  • Conducting vulnerability scans using tools like Qualys, analyzing results, and prioritizing remediation efforts.
  • Documenting security operations processes and creating knowledge base articles aligned with best practices.
  • Automating security tasks and integrating toolchains using scripting languages such as PowerShell and Batch scripts.
  • Collaborating with external SOC teams to coordinate incident response and threat intelligence sharing.
  • Preparing detailed post-incident reports and root cause analyses to improve security measures.
  • Managing security for end-user devices via platforms like MS Intune, Sophos, and NinjaOne.
  • Scheduling and assessing vulnerability scans on critical infrastructure components to ensure comprehensive security coverage.
  • Maintaining patching compliance across operating systems, Microsoft Office, and third-party applications.
  • Supporting infrastructure teams in deploying secure systems, enhancing security policies, and managing security-driven changes.
  • Producing weekly security operations reports to inform management and guide strategic decisions.
  • Managing Cisco Umbrella web filtering policies and SSL inspection to enforce internet security policies across the organization.
