SecOps Engineer – Cyber Security, M365 Security, Intune, Purview, Azure
Permanent
Hybrid | Central London (3 days per week)
£60,000 - £70,000
Areti are recruiting for a SecOps Engineer to join a highly successful organisation undergoing significant investment in its technology and cyber security capabilities. The business operates a complex enterprise environment and offers excellent opportunities for growth and development.
You'll join a growing cyber security function responsible for securing and enhancing a large-scale Microsoft estate, with a particular focus on Microsoft 365 Security, Intune, Purview, and Azure. You'll help protect users, devices, identities, cloud services, and corporate data whilst supporting the organisation's wider security strategy.
Working closely with infrastructure and IT teams, you'll play a key role in strengthening security controls, improving resilience, responding to threats, and driving continuous improvement across the organisation's security posture. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong M365 Security expertise who enjoys operating across both security engineering and security operations.
How Your Day Will Look
M365 & Cloud Security
- Identify and remediate security gaps and misconfigurations across cloud services.
- Manage and optimise email and collaboration security controls, including phishing and malware protection.
- Enhance identity and access controls through Conditional Access, MFA, and least-privilege principles.
- Support endpoint security and device compliance initiatives through Intune.
- Contribute to data protection and governance initiatives using Microsoft Purview.
- Support security improvements across Microsoft Azure environments.

Security Operations
- Monitor security tools and respond to alerts raised through internal and external monitoring functions.
- Investigate security incidents, determine root cause, and drive remediation activities.
- Collaborate with IT and infrastructure teams to strengthen security controls and reduce risk.
- Support vulnerability management and remediation programmes.
- Maintain security standards, operational procedures, and incident response documentation.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement using PowerShell or similar scripting tools.
- Produce regular reporting on security incidents, trends, risks, and compliance activities.
Experience Wanted
- Experience working within a Cyber Security, Security Operations, or Security Engineering role.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 Security technologies.
- Experience administering and securing Microsoft Intune environments.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Purview, including data protection, compliance, and governance controls.
- Experience working with Microsoft Azure and cloud security best practices.
- Strong understanding of identity and access management, including MFA, Conditional Access, and Zero Trust principles.
- Experience investigating and responding to security incidents and vulnerabilities.
- Exposure to PowerShell scripting and security automation.
- Experience working within a complex enterprise environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Experience
- Experience with Qualys vulnerability management and security scanning solutions.
- Knowledge of Sophos security products and endpoint security tooling.
- Exposure to SIEM, threat monitoring, or security analytics platforms.
- Relevant Microsoft, Azure, or Cyber Security certifications.
