Operating both in the UK and across the world, they are a leading contractor delivering projects across multiple sectors including; real estate, defence, education, highways, rail and water.

Your new role

Working on the largest highways project in the region involving a new 10 mile dual carriageway, we are looking for a Section Engineer to join the project team with a particular focus on Structures. As Section Engineer they require you to effectively and professionally monitor and supervise site works including subcontract packages. Delivered in accordance with company procedures, programme requirements and project specifications.

Some of the duties involved (but not limited to):

  • Contribute to construction feasibility reviews of the proposed detailed design, review and commenting on Issued For Assurance construction packs prior to receiving IFC information
  • Coordinate supply chain partners to contribute to design solutions at the appropriate time to deliver a right first time design solution that can be constructed with "no in-flight change"
  • Ensure construction issues are raised promptly through the delivery team, with an appropriate level of escalation to determine a suitable resolution
  • Write and/or Review Temporary Works Design Briefs to the acceptance of the TWC
  • Ensure the delivery team is working to the latest design, and it is fully understood.
  • Understand the design specifications and drawings for your section. Challenge where relevant.
  • Communicate the delivery requirements for the upcoming 3-6 months to your Agents/Sub Agents to allow them to begin detailed planning of the works
  • Develop and deliver a robust short term plan which aligns to the contract programme
  • Produce the whole life programmes for your works and update them at suitable intervals. Resource load the programmes to control interfaces and continuity.

  • Experience in delivering major highways schemes, including structures
  • Degree level qualification in a Civil Engineering allied subject or HND in Civil Engineering and vocational training in Engineering
  • Formal training in Health & Safety and Environmental Management (SMSTS, SEATS)
  • Relevant CSCS Card
