Section Engineer – Civils
Location: Gatwick Airport, West Sussex
Sector: Civil Engineering / Aviation
Employment: Permanent
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site / Section Engineer to join a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering a programme of infrastructure works at Gatwick Airport.
The role will involve taking responsibility for your own area or scope of works, carrying out setting out and supporting the successful delivery of a range of civils packages within a live airport environment.
Projects will include infrastructure alterations and extensions, demolition and enabling works, external works and upgrades to existing operational facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out setting out for civil engineering works.
- Take responsibility for an allocated area or specific scope of works.
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate with Site Managers, Project Managers, subcontractors, and site teams.
- Carry out quality checks, inspections, and maintain accurate site records.
- Assist with RAMS, permits, and technical documentation.
- Monitor progress and identify technical or delivery issues.
- Ensure works are completed safely and to the required quality standards.
- Support the delivery of multiple civils packages within a live operational environment.

Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Site Engineer or Section Engineer within civil engineering.
- Strong setting-out experience and confident working independently.
- Experience with civils, groundworks, utilities, drainage, concrete, demolition, or external works.
- Comfortable taking ownership of an area or defined scope of work.
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Airport/airside experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Relevant engineering qualifications and CSCS.

Airport Security Requirements:
Due to the location of the works, the successful candidate will need to complete the required airport security clearance process, including a DBS check and satisfactory five-year employment/referencing history.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a contractor with ongoing work at Gatwick Airport and work across a varied programme of civil engineering projects.
