We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Section Engineer to join our team working on the SSEN Transmission Framework in the Inverness area of the Scottish Highlands. Supporting a growing portfolio of early contractor involvement and ground investigation projects, including major infrastructure schemes, this is an excellent opportunity to further develop your career while contributing to the successful delivery of high-value energy projects.
As a key member of the site management team, you will play a significant role in leading site engineering activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, to the highest quality standards and in line with programme requirements. Working closely with project teams, subcontractors, and designers, you will help drive successful project outcomes while developing your technical and leadership capabilities.

Role Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate site engineering activities across project sites.
- Support the planning, scheduling, and resourcing of construction activities.
- Assist in ensuring projects are delivered safely on time and to the required quality standards.
- Prepare and review risk assessments and method statements.
- Support the management and coordination of temporary works activities.
- Prepare work instructions and construction documentation.
- Supervise and undertake setting out activities on site.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate site records and project documentation.
- Prepare and manage as-built information and project handover records.
- Work closely with design teams to interpret and implement engineering designs.
- Support the Sub Agent and wider management team in driving project performance and continuous improvement.
- Promote exacting standards of health, safety, environmental and quality compliance across all activities.
Skills, Experience And Qualifications
- Experience working in a Site Engineer or similar engineering role within a construction environment.
- Experience leading or supervising engineering activities on site.
- Knowledge of planning and coordinating construction operations.
- Experience preparing risk assessments and method statements.
- Experience managing or supporting temporary works activities.
- Experience undertaking and supervising setting out activities.
- Experience preparing work instructions and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of design interpretation and coordination with design teams.
- Excellent communication, organisational and critical thinking skills.
- The ability to build effective relationships with project teams and stakeholders.
- Experience using GPS surveying equipment.
- Experience working with AutoCAD and BIM systems.

Desirable
- Experience working on electrical infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of high-voltage transmission projects, cabling, or substations.
- HNC or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.
Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
