Section Engineer
Location: Reading / Oxford (Thames Valley Central)
Hours: 45 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.
We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.
About the Role
As a Section Engineer, you'll support various projects on the Thames Water WAAP Programme, helping to deliver the requirements of individual projects. Your input will be technical, organisational and supervisory. You'll set out and determine locations for infrastructure installations, apply designs and plans to mark out sites, and share responsibility for site security, health and safety, and the organisation and supervision of resources. You'll operate within a fast-paced Design & Build team where collaboration is key to developing innovative solutions for our clients.
Responsibilities
As a Section Engineer, you'll be working within the Thames Water WAAP Programme team, supporting them in delivering quality outcomes for our clients. Your day-to-day will include:
- Acting as the main technical adviser on construction sites for subcontractors, craftspeople and operatives
- Managing and establishing survey controls, setting gridlines, conducting levelling and other land surveying activities
- Checking plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy and ensuring all materials and work are in accordance with specifications
- Liaising with consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners and the workforce to keep projects moving smoothly
- Overseeing quality control, health and safety matters, and resolving any unexpected technical difficulties

Requirements
This role of Section Engineer is great for you if:
- You hold a Full driving licence, Degree/HND or equivalent, CSCS Card and SMSTS Card
- You have proven experience within a civil engineering or construction environment with demonstrable experience in the Water sector
- You possess strong communication skills and can liaise effectively with a range of professionals
- You have excellent organisational skills, analytical abilities and attention to detail
- You're a team player with strong IT skills, flexibility and the ability to manage multiple priorities
