Job Overview
You will ensure the safety and security of staff and customers within your working environment to ensure smooth and effective security enforcement at the site, securing the premises, patrolling malls, service areas, back of house, car parks, and the site perimeter. Maintaining and enforcing Health and Safety Regulations, aiding guests, and administering First Aid. Must have a SIA SIA licence.
Main Duties
- Care to be taken regarding personal appearance and hygiene at all times.
- To start shift promptly at time designated, in full uniform.
- To ensure active communication at changeover, briefing to ensure awareness of any matters pertaining to the smooth effective running of the shift.
- To work as part of the Mitie team upholding their values and standards.
- To liaise with retailers over any security matters or concerns.
- To assist on-site police in prevention and detection of crime.
- To prevent unauthorized personnel from entering Bluewater.
- To conduct regular patrols to include the following:
- A thorough check of all vulnerable points of the perimeter of the buildings, ensuring all exits are secure and no risks are present.
- To conduct regular internal and external perimeter building patrols.
- To ensure when conducting building patrol the list of Health and Safety points are adhered to at all times, challenging and reporting breaches.
- Checking for any suspicious activities, persons, and vehicles.
- To conduct regular checks of areas listed within the Assignment Instructions.
- To prevent and detect fire, water leaks, and any potential safety hazards. To ensure that all fire exits and portable fire fighting equipment cupboards are not impeded by any obstructions.
- To check for unauthorized personnel in business-sensitive areas.
- To check and verify the identity and work permits of any contractors working in the building.
- Staff should be aware of suspect packages being deposited in and around the precinct of the building and should make themselves aware of the separate procedure to be adopted should such a device be discovered.
- To conduct mandatory searches of bags and personal belongings to sub-contractors and cleaners before they leave the premises, on the Client's instruction.
- To conduct searches of visitors to the site at the discretion of and as instructed by the client in accordance with site policies.
- To provide escort duties.
- To ensure the removal of unattended valuables for safekeeping.
- To monitor the movements of cleaners and sub-contractors.
- To supervise the cleaning of business-sensitive areas and selected private offices.
- To report any incident or occurrence out of the ordinary to Security Control Centre and enter into the Daily Occurrence Book (DOB).
- Conduct any other duties deemed to be appropriate or necessary to the post.

- Skills & Good communication skills, both written and oral.

Experience:
Skills & abilities:
- Experience in working within a team as well as on your own – essential.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation and policy.

- Retail Experience preferred but not essential.
- Previous experience within a similar role.
Any Other Requirements:
- Flexible approach to working hours, including working weekends & Bank Holidays.
- SIA licensed in all relevant areas.
- Willingness to take any further appropriate training.
Any Other Requirements:
- Must have a SIA Door Supervisor Licence.
- First-aid at work qualification.
