ScotSafe Transport operates across Scotland & UK wide, providing trauma-informed transport services for children who require additional support when travelling. Guided by the Children (Care and Justice) (Scotland) Act 2024 and Secure Care Standard 14, the organisation prioritises dignity, compassion, sensitivity, and respect in every journey. Services are tailored to meet the unique needs of each child, with a strong focus on therapeutic care, emotional safety, and comfort. ScotSafe Transport works closely with referring agencies to ensure robust risk management, safe transitions, and successful outcomes. With flexible, customised journey options and a professional 3:1 support ratio, the team is experienced in residential and secure care, including out-of-hours services.
Role Description
The Secure Transport Support Staff role can be full-time or part-time, remote position responsible for supporting children and young people during trauma-informed journeys. Day-to-day tasks include coordinating transport logistics, liaising with referring agencies, and ensuring all risk assessments and safeguarding protocols are followed. The role involves providing emotional and practical support to children before, during, and after journeys, maintaining clear and compassionate communication, and documenting key details in line with organisational procedures. Secure Transport Support Staff work collaboratively with other team members to uphold secure care standards, monitor wellbeing during transit, and respond appropriately to distress or changing needs. The position may require flexible working hours to accommodate out-of-hours journeys and varying travel requirements.

Qualifications
- Experience as Support Workers or in similar support roles, particularly with children and young people requiring additional care.
- Strong Interpersonal Skills and Communication abilities to build trust, de-escalate challenging situations, and provide trauma-informed support.
- Knowledge of (willing to learn) Safeguarding practices and relevant legislation, with a demonstrated commitment to child protection and safe care standards.
- Basic Technical Support skills to use digital tools, communication devices, and reporting systems needed for remote coordination and documentation.
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice and therapeutic approaches in transport or care settings.
- Ability to work flexibly, including out-of-hours, and travel across designated regions as required.
- Relevant qualifications in social care, youth work, psychology, or a related field are beneficial.
- Ability to obtain necessary background checks and clearances for working with children and vulnerable individuals.
- Training will be provided. Individuals must ensure they attend training days to ensure they met requirements in order to support secure transitions.
