Role Summary

This is an onsite security administration role supporting Microsoft's secure government/public sector facility in Reading.

The person will handle security clearances, vetting administration, facility access management, visitor support, mailbox management, and general office administration within a secure environment.

The hiring manager is looking for someone who is highly reliable, proactive, comfortable working independently, and able to manage ad-hoc tasks without constant supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Security & Vetting Administration

  • Process BPSS and SC clearance applications
  • Support the Personnel Security Controller with vetting administration
  • Maintain security-related records and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with UK Government security procedures

Secure Facility Operations

  • Manage day-to-day access control and facility administration
  • Act as the first point of contact for facility users and visitors
  • Verify legitimate use of secure areas
  • Support classified meetings and secure engagements

Administrative Support

  • Manage and action security and vetting mailboxes
  • Coordinate facility activities and requests
  • Provide office cover when security team members are unavailable
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting

  • Assist with internal security audits and inspections
  • Ensure processes follow government security standards
  • Support contractor visits and escort requirements

Must-Have Skills (Non-Negotiable)

Eligibility

  • Must have lived in the UK continuously for the last 5 years
  • Must be eligible to obtain UK SC Clearance
  • Able to pass BPSS screening

Experience

  • Administrative experience in an office/business environment
  • Experience managing multiple administrative tasks simultaneously
  • Experience handling confidential information

Skills

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proactive and self-motivated
  • Comfortable being the sole person covering certain office activities

Technology

  • Working knowledge of:
    • Outlook

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Previous security administration experience
  • Vetting or clearance processing experience
  • BPSS / SC administration exposure
  • Knowledge of UK National Vetting System
  • Defence sector experience
  • Government sector experience
  • Local authority or public sector experience
  • CRM or facilities administration experience
  • Reception/front-of-house experience within secure environments

Ideal Range

  • 1-5 years of administrative experience

Additional Details

  • Location: Reading, England
  • Duration: 10 months
  • Shift Timings: Onsite (Monday-Friday from 9 am to 5 pm)
  • Pay Range: £129/day to £145/day (PAYE)
  • Weekly Schedule: 40 hours
